I have one..Took the POS Onan off and replaced with a Kohler..Its a kick ass welder and will run a healthy feeder..which I also have..

Yes, the engine is either a Kohler or Onan, but if they're worn out I dont think their worth rebuilding like some of the bigger engine driven machines. I've seen where guys have spent a lot of time and money rebuilding them but it didn't increase the value much.

I was in trade school after I retired. Got the 23 HP Kohler for $125. Solid with low hrs. But you are right. no engine is worth rebuilding any more..
