Default So which TIG Torch Cooler from zamazom?

So which TIG Torch Cooler from zamazom? I'm torn between the "Shitturn", "Diarrhea" or "Moreporn" brands...

So which one did you buy? How did it work?

I’m about ready to melt my CK #17 flex torch, so I’m trying to decide between a water cooler or just a bigger torch.

I bought neither as I already have a Bernard 2gal I use. It was more of a rhetorical question... I voted "Morphorn" as it has a nice ring to it...

I think you should first bump up to a #26 air-cooled torch as I mentioned on MO. It will take the same collets and nozzles as the #17 which you already have. I came across this on debay LINK and if the switch connector is the same, I would jump on it. It says "26V" but I didn't see a gas valve on the torch which you do not need anyway. There may be other deals out there...

A cooler is a definite commitment and I don't know enough about the imports above to recommend any of them--check the ratings. Under $300 is a very GOOD price for a cooler--I have seldom seen a used "brand" name go for less than that at industrial auction...

You are looking at $200ish + for a quality water-cooled torch and a 250A #20 is svelte (about the size of the #17) and my preferred unit. But you will need different collets, nozzles etc. The 350A #18 will take your collets/nozzles but is a fatty.

You must also consider the length of lead and hoses: 12' or 25' are "standard" available lengths. 12' is good for bench work and you won't have to deal with all the "extra" hose of a 25'. 25' would be good for moving around the shop such as you do working on the MGVW. A decent cover is mandatory for 25' IMO because otherwise the hoses tend to tangle.

I still think you should try a #26 torch/hoses first...

PS: another thing with air-cooled is that they can have the power cable and gas hose separate or woven together into one piece that is usually a little stiffer, IMO. I prefer the two-piece as more flexible plus you won't need a power/gas adapter to "split" the gas from the power.

Thank you for all the advice.

I suppose it would be convenient to have different torches that take the same collet etc., but the stuff is so inexpensive it wouldn’t bother me to have different sizes on hand.

It might be convenient to have a 25 foot lead, but for the car I’m working on a 12 footer will be enough, Because it is very easy for me to get the car & welder close together (having a very small shop. Only 22’ x 24’)
