Default Adding to my skillset

Remember the windstorm that hit the Rocky Coast a couple weeks ago? A tree in my side yard blew over. It missed the house and the woodshed but it can't just sit where it is. I consulted my Yankee Thrifty Gene™ and decided that in the long run, I'd be ahead dealing with it myself rather than calling a tree guy.

Today I went into the local honest to God chainsaw dealer and bought a petite sized chainsaw of my very own. Dick Salisbury took the time to find out what I plan on cutting, how often and if I plan on taking on paying jobs.

I decided on the Stihl 250 and Dick showed me how to check the chain, tighten it, add chain oil and gas, use the choke and brake. He gassed it up and we went outside and we each started it up and he made sure I was comfortable. I also bought a helmet with ear protection.

After I got home and had lunch, I took pictures and a little movie of the very first time I used my chainsaw. (about 5mb)
Oh yeah - it's my favorite color.

Atta girl Madam. Since you have gone to the extent of purchasing the latest in Stihl hatwear you might want to consider a pair of kevlar chaps.

I"ll second that on the chaps. If you check with your extension service they may have a chainsaw safety course. Meanwhile if your using it be careful that if the tip comes in contact with anything the saw may kick back. Have fun.

+1 on the chaps. You won't mind the extra $$ when they save your leg or even your life!

I don't even have a chainsaw. No trees for 100 miles. Wonder where the store is?
