Default wilton 840 vise

Hey, all. Recieved an old Wilton vise, it's marked on the jaw as an 840. I'm needing replacment jaw inserts for it but can't find any info on the internet. Tried calling Wilton but they don't have any info on an 840 either. The jaw replacements I am looking for are 4" long, 3/4" tall, and 7/16" deep. Centers of the screws is 2 3/8" and there is a centering hole in the middle which a pin runs through and into the jaw of the vise. Anyone have any suggestions for finding replacements? If not, fabricating my own will be fun anyway.

I was underwhelmed with Wilton when I tried to locate new 6inch jaws for mine.
No one on the customer service line had ever heard of a Wilton #6 & didn't have any interest in it.
Some woman got some man who "might know something" about it but they seem to have no archives and no one left on staff from the old days.

He said they could sell me a set of generic 6" jaws & that the holes should match for $80 but he was in a hurry & told me to call back if I was interested.
I wasn't and I didn't.
Hell bells, I spent what? 3 years saving that old treasure of a vise and the factory doesn't give a big rip.
I think they have abandoned their once proud history and that's a shame.

Make your own jaws, Grackle. At least they'll have the touch of someone who gives a damn.
If I can be any help let me know and by the way - welcome aboard.

Welcome to the site. Seems the people in Lubbuck do a much better job of recruiting members than us'ns from Misseree do.

The vise you have doesn't exist. The drill press that I have doesn't exist. The WHM Tool Group (Wilton, Jet) disavows all knowledge of their old stuff and this posting will self destruct in 5 secs.

I took a quick peek and found somebody that didn't get the memo on ignoring customers. These guys have Wilton Jaws that might be of interest. Should you decide to accept this mission you will have to poke around further yourself.

Default I made a pair of jaws

out of copper busbar and couldnt be happier. For a while I could get all of the busbar I wanted at the local scrapyard. I havent seen any in a while. I attribute that to the price drop.

Too bad Wilton will not support its older products.
