Nice! There is nothing wrong with using it like it is. But a nice paint job is awesome too. Just depends on how you are wired.
I’ve cleaned up several machines at work and have brushed on a top coat of paint. It sure has brightened up the place, but no one else helps maintains the cleaning, so I am the one that does it. It does not happen as often as it should, but overall the place is a lot better than my home shop. Sometimes my brain needs a cleaner machine to help focus on being a bit more detailed. And gives a bit of pride too. Makes me appreciate the equipment I do have available more, vs having the general attitude of “ I’m working with junk” like I seem to hear from other coworkers. A series I, looks like It is set-up much like mine. Looks like a 48” table, 4” riser, quick release quill lever, power X feed.
If you find it needs power head work I recommend looking at H&W machine repair videos on YouTube. I made a jib crane from scrap angle and Unistrut. It bolts down to the machine table. I made an I bolt from threaded Rod that replaces the draw bar. I use the machine axis controls to move the power head into position after it is detached.
