I have a Sanstorm 650 pound pot and a Grimmer Schmidt 185 compressor with a John Deere motor. For a hood and suit I use Bullard stuff. The hood I have has some sort of air chiller thing that supplies very cool air. Not only does it keep my head cool but it keeps the face shield from fogging up. It does take a separate feed from the compressor to run the cooling thing. I have no affiliation with Bullard; just like their stuff.

Does that need some sort of carbon filter to remove the CO from the fresh air supply?

yes but they last forever . Though a Carbon monoxide sensing patch is a good idea to have on inside of helmet .A friend who does foam insulation had one compressor he never could get to pass the sticker .

Yes, and as Midmosandblasting a carbon monoxide sensing patch is really a good idea.
