Default Hydraulic Power Pack/Unit

I’m starting to think about how to put together a hydraulic unit for various uses I have.

Looking for 10 gpm, average 1500psi, with a 2200-2500 max pressure. One of the main uses would be to drive hydraulic motors, and I want to be able to adjust the speed of the motor. On the commercial units that we use at work, they use a variable output pump that is activated by an electric pusharm. I’m guessing a flow control valve and a bypass line can also be used?

I know the very basics of hydraulics and that’s about it.

To drive the pump I figure there are three possible options. Electric motor, gas/diesel engine, or tractor PTO.

I’m not looking to be ‘cheap’, but if I can do it for a reasonable price over time I’m okay with that.

Give me some input on what sort of other factors and variables I’m not thinking of!

Looking forward to seeing what the collective mind here puts forward.
