Normally the tube rolls up and wraps the fabric around the tube, but i guess you could make it wrap a cable around the tube instead, use the cable to pull the window up and back. Things i don't know is how heavy the window is and how much force the spring can provide. And how wide the cab is and i can't remember Jen asking us to re-engineer her gas shock idea. But,my money is back on the sash weights and cable. |

You guys are awesome..
I had thought about the window weight setup but could not come up with elegant in terms of cleanliness.. While it looks like there is a bunch of room in the machine and cab, there is not.. and with glass everywhere.. There would need to be a tube or pipe to hold the weight from swinging.. A setup like a garage door was the primary idea as do able because of the small footprint overall. Could mount the spring inside a tube vs outside. Same with pivots and such.. Kinda like a shade winder.. An industrial shade winder would be ideal.. ![]() You guys struck up a thinking process and landed on theses. https://www.vevor.com/spring-balance...YaAk5uEALw_wcB

I had a CAT 12 Motorgrader,it had a small cab and it was short too,i could not stand up in it and i liked to run it standing up,so the first thing i did was cut and cab off, much better.
More air, cooler, quieter and easier to get on and off. Of course i'm down here where its not all that cold. |

All ready has windshield wipers. So defrosters should help a lot.. I believe the cab was pulled from another machine.. Some of the mounting tabs are missing (angle iron) and I will make new ones.. No biggy.. The problem is the cab stress cracked on either side of the main window and then welded in a bar from side to side which now interferes with the 4X4 lockout.

Johnboy I like the way that one works..
Last year I used a Caterpillar track hoe to do the electric cables and it had the same type of unit.

They all work on a similar principle that I've seen

for the gas struts it seems to be a consistent theme.
The caterpillar had a locking gas strut so it could be positioned..
