Default Jet JDP-20EVS/230 Drill Press

In the parts I make for the boiler company, the size of the material, 3/8" - 1", requires lots of drilled and tapped holes, tapping a large number of 3/8"-16 to 1"-8 threads in thick plate is not fun. I ended up buying a Jet JDP-20EVS/230 drill press with a built in tapping head, a 20" industrial DP with a built in flood coolant system, an electronic variable speed controlled 2hp, 3 phase motor connected to a two speed gear box, giving ranges of speeds from 65-2000rpm, it uses a inverter type VFD and has 230 volt single phase input. After set the tap depth, tapping the plate is very smooth and easy, tapping is no longer a chore, I don't use it on taps smaller than 3/8, and only use either spiral point or machine taps. A massive 700#+ machine with a 22" x 19" table and a superior table locking system. A great machine, smooth, solid, and has a MT #3 taper and came with a very high quality 1"chuck. The bad part was the cost, about $3500.
