Default Camper weight

We are looking at buying a camper trailer (1998 Nomad 249LT) and are trying to figure out the weight of it for towing. Does this tag show the weight or not? I don't think it does, but wanted to get a second opinion.

I think you need to contact the manufacturer for a corrected label. Or you could take it to a truck scale to see the actual UVW. Hint, the UVW plus the max contents should be the GVWR.

According to https://www.rvusa.com/rv-guide/2008-...-249-lt-tr3735, the UVW should be more like 2 tons. The other weights seem to be okay.

I understand that if the GVWR is 5500, that is the maximum weight that the campers frame, axles, tires, etc will support, including the camper AND everything I might put in it (pots, camping chairs, water, fishing gear etc) but shouldn't the UVW be way less than the GVWR?

Im thinking they messed up on the UVW, and it should be what the NADA site says which is 3960. Then the GVWR and the NCC would jive...?

The link that Samcord posted looks to be an identical trailer as far as floorplan, just 10 years newer, and the dry weight is 4050, which is very close to what the NADA site says for the 1998 model. So I think our label has a typo on the UVW line.
...I hope.

Of course I just noticed that on Samcords link, the exterior picture on the left shows a slideout, even though the specs and even the floor plan show zero slideouts so I guess the internet CAN be wrong sometimes. Who'd have thought!

Yeah, I agree with the feedback the weight on your tag seems high. Take it and throw it on a certified scale if you can. If the seller is willing.

Sometimes trailer ratings also factor in the tongue weight...so a trailer with 2x 3500 lb axles may be gross rated at 7700 for example, allowing 10% tongue weight onto the tow vehicle.

Have the seller put it on a certified scale. If the seller wants to sell, it is an easy way to close the deal. Expect the NADA is right.
