Default Trailer Repair

Here recently I have not done one project. Isn't that sad?

I just went out and hacked off the whole rotten floor on the trailer I have had for years. Probably bought it in 2001 or 2002? I don't remember which. Anyhow I have been using it just the way it is. I said I would never tear the floor off it.

I can't stand it anymore it is just not as useful as it could be with the old floor on it. Now its 102" wide and still has the dove tail and the capacity to haul a farm tractor. I will now be able to haul hay on it too. Which is good because I sent the 78 F350 off to the scrap yard on saturday.

I think it will be much more useful with the new floor. I will take some pics of it tomorrow if I make it home before dark. I have been working some long hours too. I just can't seem to make it home before dark. I wish I would have done a better job of documenting this but I have been majorly preoccupied with things. I have used this project to just fill in time so I keep busy.

I need to finish the dove tail and mount the tail lights and wiring. It still needs to have a new hitch installed. I'll get some pics of that part tomorrow.

Kevin

Good to hear from you, Kevin.
You just HAD to go and remind me that my little utility trailer needs re-wiring, and prolly a new floor when I get it back from the hunt camp!

I've been thinking for a couple weeks of asking whatever happened to engineman, but was afraid you were sick or injured and no news is often better than bad news.

I have a trailer deck with a big plywood patch over the the hole that got busted through it. I don't have it very far up the priority list, but since you're all practiced up I could probably make room in the shop for a couple days if you're planning a winter vacation to Alaska and need something to do.

Nice to see you back, Kevin. I can't wait to see the pictures when you get into the floor replacement. How do you plan to do it? Put back the same thing or go with something new?

Hi everyone its good to be back. I have been working some hours. I'm just thankful to still have a job to go to.

I have been trying to get things done here at the shop too along with work. Thats been tough to keep up with. I did not make it home last evening till 7:30 but I still managed to get the chuckle out of the truck engine. Now its runing real good. Now I can use it. Its running like a dragster now. All the repairs seem never ending.

Anyhow I will be going home this afternoon and getting the pics of the trailer and get some of the welding done. I hate it when I have to fix something just to make it to work. I'm one of the top entertainers here at work. LOL The personnel manager told me I'm NOT getting fired anytime soon. LOL I put a ladder rack on top of my car and they thought it was hilarious. Maybe I should have a pic of that!LOL I stacked skids on it 6' High and it rode like 6 people were in the car. LOL

I have the flooring cut out for the trailer. Well at least 3/4 of it done. I sawed it out of an ash log on the sawmill. I got some more to cut out. I want to get the dove tail fabbed up and get the thing wired. This trailer has brakes on it. I never had one with brakes before. LOL My black Ford hauls a trailer real good. Thats what I want to use to pull it with. I need to change the hitch on this trailer too.

I will be home before dark today and get some pics. I wish I had taken some of the trailer before I started hacking on it. I didn't think of it at the time. With the old floor on it it was extremely heavy. It had 1/4" plates all over it with some hokey plywood in the center. I will do it today I just feel good the truck is running good.

I'm making progress and I'm not giving up. I have got 4 more welding jobs here at the shop to do I want to put them on here too.

Kevin
