Default Hypertherm Powermax 1250

A while back I bought a Hypertherm Powermax 1250 plasma cutter, a 80 amp unit that is rated for 1 1/2" severence cut and max cut of 1 1/4". The unit is varible from 25-80 amps, has setting for regular cutting, gouging and cutting of expanded metal. It is a machine that is operatable on 208-480 single phase and 208-575, 3 phase, it switches voltages automatically. This is a durable, industrial piece of equipment, has built in air filter/seperater and on board diagnostics. I've used this machine to cut sooty, scalely boiler plate, I-beams, aluminum diamond plate and 1/2" stainless steel plate, and have had great results.

Pros
1 - cut quality
2 - machine quality
3 - portable (somewhat)
4 - autolink for fool proof voltage hook up
Cons
1 - weight, 90#
2 - consumable cost, about $22, for nozzle and electrode change
3 - cost, at about $3600, hard for the home shop to justify

A great machine, very user friendly, with huge cutting capacity, if you are in the market for a machine of this capacity, its well worth a look.
