Man, be careful what you wish for, you will be getting a hairwash for sure. I think we are at an inch a day right now.

There is a contractor that uses baler twine all the time around our neck of the woods.
It works really well, but deteriorates to the point of useless when you finally get around to using it.

I find it hard to believe that plastic baler twine degrades like that. We've had this place 20 years, never used plastic twine, yet I find a bale's worth every now and then that seems to have at least 80% strength. Strong enough to put me flat on my face in the dirt when it gets tangled up in my feet anyway. That stuff is the bane of corral cleaners and feed grinders. I would think that in the dark, that shit would be permanent.

The natural fibre twine is vastly different. That stuff starts to degrade as soon as it gets any sunlight or moisture. It was pretty sketchy to last from one year to the next, even if the mice didn't cut them, completely degrading in 4-5 years.

We use that plastic baler twine for tying up plants and in a year it is pooched. The roll of twine we keep in the shed out of the sun and that roll lasts for years. So yeah, I think it would be fine if buried or in a conduit.

So looked at the rain gauge this afternoon when the rain slowed down to a dribble, 2-1/8" since yesterday morning. Rusty, you'll be getting this soon.

Today the electrical inspector was out and looked at my trench, at the splitter box tie ins on each end, and the main service panel. All has been sprinkled with holy water and he sent written approval an hour ago.
Of course it was raining, and I think the trench work inspection was secondary to getting out of the rain The sidewalls are sloughing in from the rain and there is standing water in some parts of it. The piles of clay are a gooey mess.

We started sleeping in the new house on the night of the 17th. So far it's great. We have power, and water by garden hose, and the armfuls of bits and pieces are coming over as we find a place for them.
This kind of gives me a breather, as I am going in for a lung test and visit with the sarcoid specialist. From Tuesday on, I plan to start working on the fiber optic line and then I can bury it all when done.

So far we get telephone and internet from the shack next door.

We got some of that wet stuff.
Just shy of 3 inches until Saturday afternoon.
It was a welcome shower!
We still need more but several light rains would do more good than a downpour right now.
We are DRY. less than 3-1/2" since the end of april.

Randall, there is a ton of stuff to do yet. I haven't ordered the material for the skirting yet, for instance. Today went racing around town to get all med appointments, and herself exchanging all the stuff she got on a buying spree with her sister. Of course when it came to my supplies, we had ran out the clock, and the places I had checked by phone lied like a cheap clock. Yeah, we have 300 ft of poly....no, you don't, you have 284ft.

So today was lung day, started with a lung test, about an hour blowing into a machine. Then lung x-ray and then a Cat scan of the airbags. The specialist said I am doing well and they will do it all again in six months. They are keeping a sharp watch on me.

In a day or so I will go back to town and try to get my stuff again.

Hell yes, Rod. I am lucky I got past the idiots and connected with a skilled specialist who identified the problem and treated it. I am pleased not to run out of breath just walking anymore. And I would not be able to set up this place without being exhausted except for having the little pills.
