Default Time to Fix The Silver Bullet

Took a couple minutes to check out the damage from the encounter with "Bambi" Hood opened with no binding at the latch. Radiator support is bellied in a little in the middle. None of the coolers, condenser, Etc appear trashed. I will have to straighten up the mounting tabs on the tranny cooler. Hood is ordered still have to order grill assembly. We got real lucky in that the air bags did not deploy.

Yep, and it's still mighty unpleasant. However there are certain truths in life about keeping Momma happy if you know what I mean It's also going to take the better part of a week for the hood to get here along with the grill. I can heal some during this dead time.

Have you considered going to a pick-a-part place and getting a used hood and grill?
Fenders, grills, hoods are the easy part of body work. The kids have been deer hunting out of season with cars, so this is getting familiar.

I tried to get a used hood with the idea my son could get it put on Thurs. before he took off to Steamboat with his buddies. I did not want to rent a car to go to Cripple Creek. But, it would appear Xterra hoods of the vintage needed and Hen's Teeth are comparable in availability. So screw it this one isn't much more than used. Especially when you figure this one will come painted to match the paint code of Momma's Xterra. Josh and I will just need to get it installed without any Boo Boo's.

The weather cooperated and I got a Lot done today. I stripped the front end down and have the radiator support ready to come out once I unhook a couple cooler lines. I'll leave things as is until the parts show up and Josh is around to help. The radiator support took a pretty good whack as you can see from the pic I took looking across from one end.

Heck WT, I'd just fix the R support it's not all that bad... pull it bend it back with a press to make it easy, I've seen far worse. just my 2 cents prolly not worth a penny but it's what I would do.

Yup, I agree with you and if I wasn't facing a time crunch as far as having Josh to help plus back to work (theoretically anyways). I don't have time to Dick around. A new radiator support was $60 + shipping . My hope is the replacement parts will play nice together and take minimal tweaking. So we get it back together in a few hours.

Arrived home yesterday from Cripple Creek to a pile of Xterra in a box. Things are looking good everything is correct. Except for the hood some sort of shipping shit show where it will be coming via Grand Junction. Typical for a large project I refuse to get pissed. If there is any lesson out of this Kidney Stone debacle is I'm done sweating the small shit. If my son comes up tomorrow we will rebuild the front end up to installing the hood. If shit plays out unfavorably I'll try to straighten the old hood enough to latch right until the other hood finishes it's Marco Polo expedition
