Little shop time today
Been low on energy and today after the mid-evil bloodletting at the hematologist. I came home and slept a few hours and a buddy from Huston showed up seemed I felt a bit better oddly enough. so he wanted to fab out a quick sissy bar for his HD bobber and he also helped me fix a few things on my bike while he was at it. new battery new oil drain line old one was leaking and the starter relay went out and I guess tomorrow we will fix rear brake and front control lost a bolt somewhere and headlight high beam blew as soon as I fired up the bike long overdue Maintainance stuff...
Was a bit of a change I got to sit and watch, for the most part, someone else doing the work for a change

My son keeps screwing with me asking me where I put the free turkey pan all Harleys come with for catching all the crap that falls of em... but sure seems to want to borrow it all the time but always after I fix everything

I always thought that the turkey pan was for the oil leak when you parked it.
Sorry man but seriously nice looking bike. I had a boss that had a 74 Harley. One winter he was talking about tearing it down to "freshen it up." Apparently that meant fixing a bunch of little things including several oil leaks. Well once again my mouth kept right up with my mind and I responded with oh so you're doing regular maintenance then. The bike sat for a couple of years so it needs lots of maintenance was feeling good enough to take it out today for a test run but it's got lots of other issues
So as Gerry suggested I'll prolly take out the radical cams and get rid of the tuner which is going to be costly no doubt... another option I have is to throw in my drag motor which is far worse than this so really not an option the fuel injection took a crap on me and I can't figure it out so going back carburated being it was originally carburated from factory and was changed over to injected I think the problem is going to be getting rid of the tuner and electrical I going to check with a few buddies to see if they want to swap my drag motor for a fresh stock Evo engine being the drag motor is fresh and has not been fired yet I don't think it will be a problem swapping... but yep the turkey pan is to catch all the oil they leak if it doesn't leak its not a Harley... Although the first option is to take it to Harley and let the experts try to figure it out let them diagnosis it then maybe I can do the repairs my self could be something simple or could be something really expensive I'm just stumped with it and the brain is not willing to allow me to think between the lines so to speak to figure it out... I've checked all the obvious fuel, coils and spark plugs ignition timing "air in the tires" but it runs well at slightly higher idle but on taking off it builds RPM and just before you hit that sweet spot to go on to the next shift, into the second gear or through the gears... it Boggs down like it has either no fuel or no spark backfires through the air breather and if you back off the throttle it clears up like nothing is wrong but then I noticed at idle it sounds like it has a dead cylinder cutting in and out but only at idle raise the rpm just a hair and clears up sitting in neutral you can crack the throttle hard and it roars nicely something is wrong but I just can't figure it out so sometime next week I'll haul it over to HD dealer and let them have a crack at it.... hell I should proububly just sell the dam thing and get me one of those mobility scooters

My buddy Kenny is like "You know Bob, if you break down, I don't know if we can wait around for you." just busting my balls... I assured him I wasn't worried about breaking down. He was on a Lowrider and we weren't on the road 5 minutes when one of his muffler bands came off and bounced over my head! At that point I decided I wasn't going to be at the end of the pack just because of my bike's race... About 20min later we were all pulling over because Kenny had a rear flat. Not 30sec later, a buddy of ours with a pickup recognized us, pulled over, and we heaved Kenny's bike in the bed along side some drainage pipe on its way to Maine. Lucky to find a bike shop still open (everybody was north in NH) we got Kenny's tube patched (tube already had 4 patches on it) and back into his nearly bald tire. Added about a half hour to our trip. The sporty on the trip added another half hour for the couple/few gas stops we had to make. I made it on a half tank or so... Eclectic bunch we were, my bright red/black, fully-faired sport bike, a basic Sportster, a couple dressers, Kenny's ratty black LR and a '59? white panhead with all manner of road kill and chicken feet hanging from it!

First I'm going to drop it off at the HD dealer for diagnosis before I do anything else see what they can tell me... If it is something I can do my self or get done cheap enough I'll get it ready for the trip I had planned on taking... one of those trips where new roots can grow...
If it turns out to be too costly I'll be down a bit longer but regardless I'll get it fixed eventually... I really like this bike...
