Drained the muck. Shaft between the clutch and shuttle shift box is a bit loose. Can move the shaft in the bearings. Considering what I paid for it I think I have a plan B that won't involve splitting the tractor and should keep things goimg long enough for me to get my jobs done.
The bearings are open ball bearings. Pack with grease. Coat all gearing with grease too. Change the bad tire and run it. If like to find what they use on the open gearing on traction engines. Seems pretty sticky versus normal grease. At a later date I can tear into it properly.

Update...
Got a new rear tire on the way. Should be here tomorrow. Also replacing the radiator. Pretty good leak in the original.

Got the tire off Tuesday evening. Also put some 4x4 blocks under it after I was done. Did it in the rain. But got it done.
Got a case of jt-6 grease and a bucket of open gear grease on the way.
