I hear ya. I have a motor with bad bearings I need to fix. It is on a bench grinder I made and there is no rush to do it because I have 4 other bench grinders.

Finally, got the rewired lathe motor tested, tonight. I discovered and repaired a missing wire on the centrifugal switch. I verified that B to C was the start coil by attaching a 12 VDC battery to the coil ends, and by hanging a small bolt on a string inside the stator to indicate direction of the run coil vs the suspected start coil (B-C)... they are 90º opposed.

I hooked one end (B) of the start coil to neutral, via a jumper, soldered to the neutral terminal. Then, I dead-ended A, since it is unused in this configuration.

Motor started and ran... even turns in the desired direction CCW. Yeah!

Now, it's on to tidying up my other major project, almost finished.
