Not that I do a ton of circle work, but when I do, I just space out a pair of holes in some 3/8" sheet good. I put a pivot through one hole and the plasma's tip through the other. I do not have drag tips for my plasma, and the 3/8" sheet good gives a nearly perfect standoff. FYI, a 3/8" hole in wood gives a great fit on the plasma tip.
I have kept scraps from assorted carpentry projects, so I have a stock of scrap 3/8" sheathing material for such uses. Local codes allow 3/8" sheathing on most residential construction including roof sheathing.
