Default Aluminum and acid

If I used a mild acid to clean an aluminum cooking pot, would it make the aluminum more likely to come off in future cooking.

I have found I can clean all the black off a cooking pot with swimming pool acid. But am I taking a finish also. Is there anything on a cook pot after they shine it.

I have no clue but i know they use an acid wash to clean Alum horse trailers. I know that really has nothing to do with anything.

Good morning Jerry,

I found this, pots

Read down a little bit and see if it has what you want. It does not give a lot about manufacture. It may help lead you down a better path of info though.

Yes, and the same is true with alkaline materials, aluminum is amphoteric.
You should not cook with aluminum as there is a link between Alzheimer's
and aluminum comsumption. I have Alzheimer's in my family history so I
am sensitive to aluminum content in and around my food.

Get rid of the aluminum replace it with glass, stainless or cast iron.

If there is it would be petroleum based and easily removed with soap and water.

Hmm... I didn't know about that Shade. I inherited all my Mema's heavy aluminum cooking pots years ago and have used them routinely... Maybe that's why my kids are always forgetting everything .

I've been thinking about buying one of the induction flat-top ranges for a while now and have put it off because I have to change over to steel pots. Could be a good time to do both...
