I’d forgotten that he’d tore into them and figured some repairs.

I’ve been busy with other stuff the last few days to try my helmet, but it’s been sitting in a southeast facing window since just after I started this thread. Hopefully some spring sun has got it going!

Well, after a week sitting out getting actual sun, the helmet is still a no go.

I will likely take a look at lw’s thread to see if I can figure out a repair. In the meantime I’m going to look at new, as I want a reliable one on hand. If I can fix the old one it can become a backup.

You're not trying to use Energizer brand batteries, are you?

Not sure what they are, was whatever I could get here in town. Will take a look at that just in case.

Read it here and ask yourself what's wrong with a Princess Auto helmet.

Is that what you’re using?

Not afraid to try one, just no experience with them as of yet.

Yes, used them for years.
I always had a bitch that they would not hold a standard cheater lens for those with I-problems.(worse than I-phones)
I just bought a new one because they now have a clip to hold the cheater in place. Goodbye, two sided tape. It was about 100 bucks, not on sale.

I thought about buying a pricey helmet when I first got my stick welder, but decided to try a Hobart hood from the local Peavey Mart. For all the welding I do, the hood works just fine, and I have no regrets about that particular purchase.

I bought a fibreglass fixed shade helmet decades ago. I got a Princess auto auto shade as an upgrade. The auto dark helmet lasted two years before it crapped out.

I replaced the suspension in the old fibreglass and having been using it for the last several years....
