Idiots in Chicago Bitching their Tesla's won't charge. Reading the article and a comment stuck out towards the end. I remembered what Gerry said about charging Lithium batteries and it all made sense. Hook up to the charger and "Pre-condition the Battery" which I'm guessing fires up heaters for the battery pack to bring it up to temp Before charging will begin https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2024/...ar-graveyards/

As time goes we will find out really why it failed in the early history of autos . They never had the range to find all the other issue .

My inner geek really wants a 'cool' EV, but it's only similar to my wanting a 'cool' supercar. We've got one of the big Hummer machines in town I see once in a while. It's not a car, it's not a truck. Thing is just a monster. If you were trying to feed it with fuel I'd imagine it a lot like those guys who bought the miniature semi-trucks a few years back. I saw a Rivian pickup the other day turning onto a side road in a fairly well-to-do neighborhood. Looks way more modest and maybe even useful. Rode in a Tesla a couple years ago, and it was pretty awesome. That was just a short Uber trip from a hotel to a restaurant without much time to look around and enjoy or explore it.

Owning one right now is the furthest thing from my mind. Our local utility has fully deregulated and is kicking us onto the private market. I have to pick a new provider using a system that nobody around here has ever dealt with. The only thing anyone's number crunching has determined is that we're all going to be paying more. For the first time in my life I'm actually reading the yellow tags on all the appliances we own and trying to decipher them. I'm trying to figure out how much I really "need" hot water in my life. I can't imagine how I'd be reacting if I had to plug my cars in too.

you would think with all the software in these cars that they'd just precondition themselves when it's cold and they're plugged in for charging. I know it'd take longer but it would surely be better than blatant abandoness* of cars


They must work though because the country with the highest % EV sales is....... Norway. Not exactly a warm spot like.
