I don't really understand what this is going to do but it is an awesome piece of artwork on it's own.

I suppose then if it doesn't work the way I like I could replace the wheel with turbine blades, paint it with bright colors and place in the front yard.

Thank you all for the nice comments. If it works as good as it looks then I will have had my fix for a while.

Here is the fender in place. I have added additional shielding between the gussets. One of the shields has a slot cut in it for access to the two grease fittings.

The fender is offset to the rear to help block dirt and mud leaving the tire at an angle.

For those who don't see the concept of this caster it may help to understand that it is being built upside down.

The large drawing is of the tailgate end of the box, the small one is the hinge brackets of the connection to the Quick Attach plate. The hinge parts on the drawing are to be welded to the box. They are 1" thick

Adding a grease fitting. I'm not certain what thread these little fittings are but I found a 1/4"-28 works well.

Cutting the hinge brackets that attach to the Quick Attach plate. These are 1/2" thick stacked four high.

Notice the drain holes for the chips. Without them a hole saw would be impractical for a hole this deep. I also cycle the quill up and down several times just before cutting through each layer. This makes removing the slug easier.

Finishing the hole to size with a boring head and bar.
