So overall I think it will be a good machine..

It definitely needs some TLC..

I need a few things.. I can use a Tach cable.. It uses the old fashioned outer cable with inner cable.. IH part# 394 729 R91

So I have found that many items are available.

Seems the D282 was used in several different tractors.

Still some of the items for rebuilding it all would be a problem to locate..

But a water pump as 95.00..

I found the wiring is completely buggered..

Looks like at some point someone just removed all the wiring but the ones to make it start and run.

Mico is the brake MFG. Not sure what is available from them..

Don't know if this helps or not I worked a lot with Mico brakes for supplementary braking on mini packers and 1 ton stake trucks back in the day.https://zips.com/products/truck-chas...%20Locks%22%5D

Still in business but would be nice if some of the big MFG's would consider archived unit PDF's ..

Thanks.. I did go over and look but all new stuff.. I'll have to figure out a way to get in there and read the other numbers.

Even if I don't do it now.. Be nice to have a rebuild kit on hand..

took the throttle rod out to straighten it and found the pin for the throttle, the bushing for the spring and the pin were all buggered..

So made a new pin out of lawnmower blade.. Good tough steel..

Then I wrapped a new spacer from 18Gauge.

Had to build up weld on the end of the throttle rod and around the governor pin hole..

Seems to all work correctly now. Won't really know until I start it up again.

Anybody know Allison transmissions? The trans is supposed to be Allison and some idiot got to the trans tag with a sand blaster and wire brush to grab numbers..

I don't know what is what without seeing a clean copy to know what the numbers actually mean..

The trans is an allison, very common in vintage machines, they are tough and work well, the weak point is in the torque convertor. the machine must be fully stopped before changing directions, if that rule is followed the trans should serve you well. the model number escapes me right now, i will check my uclid/terex loader and should be able to get at least the basic series number.

If the tach cable doesn't do it, look at the tach drive setup. I will be doing one on a DT436 for FIL probably this summer.

After doing some searching it is a Allison TT2220-1..

They were used in so many machines.. If something does happen to this one I wonder if it could be upgraded to something else that is more durable..

This one is really touchy on the shifter. Finding N can be hard.

So pulled out the tach and put a little lube on the outside cable connector.. and this made it spin a little better..

The Tach cable takeoff on the motor is clean now.. It was all gummed up like the rest of the machine..

Today the distilled water should be in as well as the belts so can put it the rest of the way together. I'll fire up the motor and see if the cable spins when connected.

The transmission oil filter housing is crossed threaded... Like really bad..

I tried to get it apart yesterday and it looks like it will be a failure..

What should I get for a replacement unit (housing and filter).. I don't mind spending some coin on one..

Be lifetime what ever that means.

The Allison is a common tranny and others should be around to scab parts from. Or make a mounting plate with hoses and remote mount the filter.

This hard to find neutral problem is common to worn out linkage connections and pins.
JD got around this problem by using a cable.
