I think blaming him for everything wrong is as dumb as blaming the last guy, especially when the problem is the same the world over, but anyway.

We would be a pretty good producer ourselves, but there has been a problem the last few years where environmentalists are objecting to every single felling license application which had had more of an impact on prices than pretty much anything else.

We don't produce much high grade lumber, the industry here focuses on quantity not quality. Spruce trees will grow to harvest size in 40 years which is great for output. but the rings are too wide so strength is poor. We export a lot of sheet goods but import a good bit of higher grade from Scotland and Scandinavia.

Price wise a 16 foot 4x2 would be around $7.50 Inc sales tax at today's exchange rate

Myself and my good wife did a lot in a bit more than an hour this evening. Removed the old timber panels, dropped in the new concrete ones and fitted a few of the new timber ones

Got the wooden panels in, then made a top from some 4x1 and 6x1 pressure treated. The capping takes a cheap crappy fence and makes it look like something.

Will get a second coat of fencelife in the next few days and that'll be it done bar disposing of the old panels
