My guess is he is an eccentric who collected most of them long ago before there was any demand.

35 years ago my father bought a very nice Swedish made anvil (among many other things) that weighs about 100 lbs. at a yard sale for $5.00. He has numerous forging tools and equipment that he paid very little for at auctions and sales long before the internet. Nothing remotely close to the pictures shown here though!
