Default I must have a iron issue

Believed to be a Monarch model A.

I've known about it for a few years. Offered $100.
It's been in a abondond garage for a long time exposed to the weather. But the two knobs and the half nut lever all move on the carriage. This is a long term project.

I may be wrong, but I do not recall you having a short term project.

Ya think? For me the hardest part of the project would be loading it on the truck to take it to the scrapyard...

It would make a very nice decorative item if for some reason you could not get it to work properly. It would make an interesting conversation piece in someone's man cave or in the reception area of a modern manufacturing facility. It could also make a great visual aid for a budding mechanic. Sometimes there is a moment in ones life when they suddenly realize what passion is. An object like this could create that moment for a young mind.
I applaud your vision and desire to save it.

I have hauled much better full gearhead lathes to the scrappers. Rust never sleeps, and once they have sat outside for years, it is a job akin to Cutters Vise to resurrect them. My friend offered it to many people for scrap price and no one would buy..

Another conehead lathe came across my radar. Courtesy of a friend of mine who is always looking for cheep machine tools...this one will be in a farm equipment auction Saturday March 9th. Picture is from Facebook and the only one.

It would take a little (or maybe a lot) of TLC but could be a good learning process. And you will have the room as soon as your building is up. Just beware, the building will fill quicker with projects than you can imagine though.

People sure like keeping lathes outdoors

My biggest concern is cleaning up the ways on the bed of the Monarch. Large tub of molasses and time?
