Default A little mechanics and a little machining.

I got a surprise visitor to my shop yesterday, a set of White 4 bottom plows. My neighbor start to plow a part of a pasture field to plant corn in it, he had made three passes up and back when the bolts holding number one bottom, broke.
The carnage was not too bad just four broken 5/8" - 18TPI X 8" bolts.
But no real damage to plows.
We ordered the new bolts from Fastenal for delivery this morning, my neighbor went and picked them up this morning and we had the plow back together around 10AM.
The machining part of this was to make a 3/4" X 6" long spacer. There was at one time a "draft" block on that spacer but apparently when the previous owner replaced the bolt he had lost the spacer and "draft" block.
To finish the repair I will have to remove another spacer assembly and duplicate it. I am not even going to try to locate a replacement part. White has been out of business for so long, I doubt if there are any available.
It took a lot of finagling to get all the bolts lined up, but the field is plowed and ready to disc tomorrow afternoon.
Dan.

It's nice to be able to help the neighbors at times.

Any pics of the maching of the block and it all back together?
