Default Expensive Syncrowave 250

Went to buy a Syncrowave 250 today for $850. Now I find it's going to cost another $1,000....

That's because the guy has a Wells-Index 745 mill for $1,000. Missing a few knobs and stuff since it came out of a school but doesn't seem to have had much use at all. 1 HP, step-pulley with 40" table. 1969 vintage and a copy of the original shipping order was in the contactor box.

Now to see if he will trade for the old DialArc and a Tektronix oscilloscope or two.

He had it listed on CL for $1,100. for awhile and there was no way we could justify that right now. So I just kinda pulled out an $850 figure on the phone and that seemed to sit OK with him. It was a 4 hour round-trip to Norfolk to get it, but it looks nice. It came from some college, not a shop.

Surely you can do better (and more) pictures than that.

It's still in the truck! That's the Craigslist pic

Once we get it off the truck, I'll post pictures of the welder and my spine. This time, I think we have it in the truck to where we can grab it with an engine hoist without having to lift it up and scoot it back to the tailgate, unlike the DialArc.

We told the guy we are definitely interested in the mill, and asked if he will consider equipment trades in lieu of cash or in addition to cash. If he wants the old DialArc 250 and a scope, we're mostly there. We'll see. If not, we'll have to see if he can wait just a bit for us to sell stuff off and do a cash deal. I'm not letting that mill get away. It's perfect for us.

Hay Pop, that welder looks just like mine. I bought mine in the early 90s. Did you get the tig torch with yours?

He gave us an older but seemingly unused water cooled torch that just needs a couple pieces. I think we have part of an air cooled torch here that the young one got for free at his welding class.

The serial # of the welder indicates late '92 or early '93 manufacture.

Here's a pic of the mill - here's hoping we can do a deal.
