Default steel railroad derrick

completed a steel derrick (inside steam boiler and apparatus obviously is wood, coated with marinewest epoxy and later painted)

left it outside to normalize the worked steel and this is what it looks like this morning

it's all welded together and the wheels and pulleys were all turned on my SB9A lathe

(I actually built this derrick to test out my O/A, Marquette Stick, flux core and homebuilt carbon arc welders so all were used in production at various stages; I'm currently building a spot welder so future projects using sheet metal might go even smoother)

Nice project, good for sharpening skills.

Nice work.

Very representative of the prototypes, IMHO.

That sure looks good. How long did it take to build?
