Default Buy it or make it? (14 pin cord)

New 14 pin cord is about $200 for 50 ft. I bought a used 50 footer for $70. It is a Miller cord and it is just 18/6 SOOW cord and it has the "special" 14 pin connectors.

I was wanting another 14 pin cord (but shorter, ~25 foot), but I think Miller is proud of these. I was wondering if I could make one cheaper. The problem I have come into is I cant find the 14 pin male or female connectors.
I did find this one

scroll about 1/2 way down to see it.
I was told only one place has these 14 pin connectors and you have to buy them in bulk. So does any one else know where I could get some at?

The bare connector can be bought through Miller, I used to have the P/N, I'll see if I can find it.

male connector Miller P/N 141162 : http://www.gts-welco.com/gtsweldssto...l.aspx?ID=1360

female connector Miller P/N 152369 : http://www.gts-welco.com/gtsweldssto...l.aspx?ID=1361

Default The Verdict is...

It is cheaper to the cord already made from Miller. There is a NEW 25 foot cord on ebay right now (I think it is from B&R welding supply) and it is on sale for $110 (regular price $175).
The male connector and female connector are $45 each. So 90 bucks plus shipping and I would still have to buy the 18/6 SOOW cord. That SOOW cord would be about $1 per foot. Then I would still have to put it together.

Thanks paychk for the part numbers.

On this 14 pin cord that I bought It turns out it is just one of those deals where it is "just my luck". The cord only has 6 pins and the one I need has 8 pins. The G and F slots are empty so my suit case feeder doesn't display the volts or amps. The cord still works and the feeder works just fine but I have to look back at the welder to see the volts instead of the feeder. Just my luck. I guess I will have to buy a new 14 pin cord.

I needed a 2' cord for a special project I was working on and bought the connectors and cable here http://www.ssccontrols.com/homepage-weldingcables.htm They also gave me the part #s so I could order them direct from Allied.com where they get the connectors. The part #s are 605-8699 for the plug and 605-6698 for the socket. They are standard Amphenol plugs and cost about $28 each.

I bought a rotory amp control from CKworldwide and it came with a nice die cast alum one.

I guess the reason I'm even posting this is the plastic ones always feel cheeze to me. This one has a nice feel to it.

These type of connectors are also used by the military.
