well I'm stuck and not really sure what to do. I really didnt want to spend the $$ for a new welder. Kinda wanted to spend around 1500. Looks like I might wait a few more months break down to buy a new one.

Anybody see any other good deals out there that maybe I'm missing?

This one came up today, not a real steal of a deal either, he's figuring it cost 3500 new, so he obviously overpayed for it...

Lincoln Ranger 225 on ebay for $2870. Buy it now, free shipping. Thats a nice machine. Thats $30 less than I paid for my GXT 4 years ago, ( GXT now selling for $3500.)

Lincoln pipeliner on ebay starting bid $1350. These machines don't make much by way of auxilary power (120 volts DC) but will run for years without shuting them off. It all dependes on your needs.

I'd really like to have something with 220v and some power to back it up. Going to kinda be a dual use machine for me.

Did you actually go and look at the welder for $1500? Start it up? Run some beads? Try out the generator portion with some AC tools?

New, no accessories, that welder is selling for $3150 at several places. So, unless you have a trailer and leads (or scrap you can turn into a trailer and leads), I bet you are looking at a minimum of $500 in added costs... not to mention the added wait time trying to score additional "deals" if you want to run the welder now instead of later.

If the machine is in good shape, I don't think the price is out of line if it is plug and play. Why? Because a welder, trailer, leads, sales tax/shipping and some misc stuff is gonna run close to $4k by the time you buy it all new... $1500 is less than 1/2 of that.

An oil analysis isn't much money, and maybe the seller will let you take a compression reading. Hour meters can be changed easily. Unless the meter is in a tamper proof housing, I wouldn't put much faith in it. Maybe a local welding supply place can run it through a test procedure.

You could always bring 15 $100 dollar bills and show only 12 and see what happens.
