Default Inheritance

A good friend of mine passed away this past spring and left me his milling machine. I picked it up the weekend but I haven't got it of the trailer yet as I need to clear a spot for it in my already cluttered shop.

Sorry about your loss of a friend, but the mill will be a nice reminder if him.

Very nice to have a rotary table and indexing head. Nice tools to drill holes in a circular pattern or machine features in a circle pattern.

I am not sure what the round plate is for though. I have not seen one of those before. Hopefully someone else will chime in with an answer.

I think this is a You Suck.
Nice to have this tool to remember him by. I think the circle with the machined track is to true up the spindle using a dial indicator.

I wonder if the round piece is a lapping or flattening plate?

Is it all metal?

Yes, cast iron. seams kind of like an unfinished lathe faceplate but the center is not thick enough for that.
