I have never understood the willful and wantant destruction of a running engine.

Hire the handicap, they are fun to watch.

I despise seeing anything tortured "for the fun of it".
People like that are as likely as not to move on to dogs or cows.

Jimmy 2 stroke diesels are a "gateway drug" who knew?

Let's get 'em banned in Boston...

Not a fan of wanton destruction either. However, at the end of the day, that engine has outlived it’s usefullness and is scrap regardless. So if somebody like this comes along, at least it gets to run a bit longer. I’ve ran a few detroits, but never worked on them, and would be interested in the tear down video to see what happened.

I've rebuilt five 6-71s. They are a simple engine, but easily abused. They are happy being run flat out on the governor. Lugging tears them apart. They were designed to be a marine engine. It is rather difficult to lug a marine engine. In that job, just make sure it has oil pressure and feed it fuel it will just about live forever. I still run two of them, a 6-71 and a 6V-92.

Norm although I don't know anything about the particular engine...

when I was watching the video it got me thinking about the way it ran and how it ran... it didn't seem to be a choice engine for a truck or dozer in my thoughts....
But first thought popped in to mind was it would make a great large boat or small ship engine... but to heavy for a plain I would imagine...

The driptrot was the most versatile engine ever built and could be assembled in many configurations. take the inline six it could be left hand or right hand rotation with all the external jewelry (exhaust and blower) on one side. this enabled using a common driven gearbox with up to 4 engines imputing power.
