I suppose then if it doesn't work the way I like I could replace the wheel with turbine blades, paint it with bright colors and place in the front yard.

Thank you all for the nice comments. If it works as good as it looks then I will have had my fix for a while.

Here is the fender in place. I have added additional shielding between the gussets. One of the shields has a slot cut in it for access to the two grease fittings.

The fender is offset to the rear to help block dirt and mud leaving the tire at an angle.

For those who don't see the concept of this caster it may help to understand that it is being built upside down.
