Default Bridle/Blanket Hooks and a String Dispenser

Here are some projects I did for Christmas. I almost didn't get them done in time due to hurting my back but I am cautiously back up to speed now.

Up first is a few more hooks for hanging bridles and tack at horse shows. They are also good for hanging winter blankets if you put them up on the top edge of the wall. I made one for my girlfriend and one for her assistant that helps out saddling horses and managing all the lesson horses. They fold down flat against the wall when you aren't using them. Everything is made from half inch pipe, 9/16" round bar, and various chunks of angle or flat bar I had laying around.

Next is a string dispenser. Allison uses waxed thread to braid the manes on the show horses. It takes at least 50ft of thread to do one mane, so at the shows where we take big groups of horses there is a lot of thread to be unwound. We also try to match the color of the mane so we have white, brown and black thread. I made this dispenser to hang on the stall wall which gets me out of standing there with a spool of thread stuck on my index fingers while she unwinds it. I guess this was kind of a gift to myself

No holder for the crochet hook on the spool holder?

They look really good, and nice and functional too.

For those wondering about the crochet hook, some folks use them to pull the thread thru the mane/braid.

I made her a "tool belt" for that

She always pre-cuts about 30 pieces of thread before she starts each horse, and then tucks them in the belt or in the horses halter. The spool holder really is just to keep things organized and save my fingers from being the spool
