Well I got started on the handle last night. Doubt I will get to it tonight,
as today was a bust. But I will start another thread about that...

As for paint color, I'd go with a color used on old Fords.

Rock moss green, stone brown, whatever.

I saw an old Hendey lathe restored with a sorta rock moss green color that was stunning.

"Patrick Black's formula":

0.75 Ford Gray (Tractor supply P/N 3449619) (Valspar P/N 018.4432-13.005)
2.00 Black (Tractor supply P/N 3449407) (Valspar P/N 018.4432-16.005)
1.00 Oliver Green (Tractor supply P/N 3449708) (Valspar P/N 018.4432-11.005)
0.25 New Holland Yellow (Tractor supply P/N 3449960) (Valspar P/N 018.4432-09.005)

Other than deciding where exactly to mount it, it is done.

The bar is machined to match the 118° drill point used to make the
mating holes in the handles. Maybe one day I will knurl them...

The SHCS used are 3/8"-16 and I used blue loctite to secure them

The bar is 4140 half hard and the handles are A36.

Yeah, very nice. Wonder who will put the first hammer mark in it?

If it’s not Ron, then the person who does will be having his or her funeral very shortly.

Brian, you know me so well...

I did make it so the 3/4" round is easily replaceable if bent. It should not
get bent, and if someone does bend it (other than me) they will have to
see the proctologist for removal.
