Ironman,

Been doing some reading. One note I made, Learn how to zero height control. So you hit it on the nail. Thank you.

I was told by one PlasmaCam tech not to load any software from GoTorch on to my PC. Well not quite, but that was the just of the coded interpretion. There's a BLOCKOUT OF ANY INFORMATION FROM PLASMACAM regarding GoTorch.

I'll play the game.

My PC:
I'm computer literate. So my choice of computers will be a Dell 4100 Inspiron laptop, from 2002 with // port. I'm finishing up a clean copy of XP Pro. It's a Pentium 3, 1 GHz , 10 GB free hard disk space. A desk top is in hot stand-by.

From a tech:
If you plan on upgrading to Torch height control immediately, just wait on the new software from PlasmaCam. It will save you grief loading the upgrade.

Jasper:
I'm still trying to get to Jasper, the THC upgrade guy. Last time I talked to him he said there was nothing he could do with out a serial number. Talking to other tech, I have questions for Jasper. For the last two days I've called, he's been on the phone, not a problem.

Did not know about this new software. After loading software, you have to wait 24 hours. On a re-boot the software will upgrade it's self like magic with THC Basic.

Still the unknown is out there... Jaws theme song...

Got a problem. I can't open the box myself. Maybe get it open tonight.

Need the serial number.

Looks like there's a little putting together to do.

Shipping receipt shows from:

Got Jasper on the phone, just bought THC basic.

Process:
Tomorrow I'll be able to install DesignEdge with cd after 8:30 am, install will walk me through steps. Does not have to be connected to GoTorch. I have to be connected to internet. The install process will automatically connect to PlasmaCam's server. And download a string activation code. Activation of THC basic is automatic.

Next Tuesday brother will be over to help put GoTorch together on kitchen table, without torch.

More to come...

Weldor, take a quick peek at this thread http://shopfloortalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36748 . On the second page I show a price list for what it will cost to turn a go torch into a 4x4 table with design software. I have gotten as far as having my table assembled and the software loaded but no run yet, as I got too busy with paying work. I think you will find that the go torch is a decent price for a very basic system in a small size. It is the same parts a the plasmacam, but unlocking the software to allow larger table size, design software, and torch height control is going to be a bit spendy. You can figure on about a thousand buck per each item. At that point you are in the realm of being more expensive than a pcam 4x4 table with software. Hopefully this weekend I will have the time to make my table actually move. I'll let you know.

Walker, Seems that I have seen your post before. I am subscribed, and will look forward to some future info on this. Seems there might even be a crack out there.

I am in no hurry, and wanting to make an informed decision.

But...Everyone wants a new toy to play with, and this one could pay dividends
