In this case it won’t help as the pin extends out of the bore on both ends.

I can see a benefit to your idea but as you may already know it becomes less viable as the diameter of the pin decreases. According to my calculations at 3000 psi hydraulic pressure there will less than 600 lbs. of force on this 1/4” diameter pin. I doubt it would have moved.
