Default Another can crusher

This is my version of the famous can crusher. It still needs paint and I hope to get that done sometime this summer.

As it is, it took me two weeks to do this, should have been done in a day and at that rate it may take two years to get it painted.

It was built from junk that I had in the junk barrel. I just was looking and thought that this piece looked like the back bone ( the channel iron) this piece looks like the piston ( the part that crushes the can) and this round bar looks like the piston rod and ect. First thing I knew I had a can crusher.

Any how it is done to the point that I can use it.

What about the tall cans? Some of us need more beer. I grew up in a state with a deposit, so i saw few of these, though they were good fun!

I made one but they got mad at me because they couldn't see the recycle sign on my cans that were crushed.

Yea, Michigan you get your 10 cents back for every can, makes good reason to not crush them as the amount of aluminum scrap isn't high enough. Though now, I just don't drink enough cans to stock pile aluminum for recycle.

I was thinking of hydraulics but with what I have, I am afraid that I would not have enough power to crush the can.

In Oregon, there are a few cans that do not have the deposit on them. Kerns nectar is one that Costco sells. It is going to take me a long time to get a 1/2 barrel full.

Why has nobody mentioned steam. Now that would be exotic in this day and age. It is my understanding that someone there is familiar with the stuff.

Be a good excuse to use the boat. As long as the boiler is fired, might as well crush some cans at the same time.
