I like the handgun one.A few years ago the kids were bashing them with ball bats while driving down the road. One of the guys from the plant built one out .268 disc steel like a gambrel roof barn.

Our problem is like Midmo said, kids bashing mailboxes. Everyone is off the road enough that they feel safe to do whatever they want. I just beat it back out in hopes of pissing them off that they didn't destroy it. The other day someone actually stopped and broke the flag off, didn't do any other damage just the flag. Do you think the gun shaped would deter them?

Mine got smashed a couple of weeks back, 3 times in the last 4 years. I'm working on a copy of the standard sheet metal box, from 1/4 inch plate and pipe. I want it to look just like the SM one, mounted on a 3 in. pipe clad with 1X4 white wood, to look like a 4X4. That ought to rip the next little buztard right outa the back of the pickup and stick the bat someplace he don't want it... Any body got plans or pic's of a swing away, canteliever mount? RED

Here is an idea! Mount the mailbox toward the street with a baseball bat mounted horizontal pointing behind it. Mount the whole contraption on a swivel. When someone hits the mailbox the bat swings around and hit them. It could work! Fabrication department get on it!

Do some checking most road districts require them to breakaway/swing away to prevent damage to county/state equipment in case of striking it.May not be the issue for Red due to very little SNOW.
