If it was an indoor parking garage the whole place could go up. Happened here a few years ago with a car that was subject to recall for spontaneous combustion. Half of a multi storey car park had to be demolished the fire burned that hot.

Lithium from lithium ion batteries cannot be effectively recycled.

Mining Lithium takes large (diesel powered) haul trucks and a very large amount of water when mining salt deposits.
The explosives, loading and hauling equipment use a lot of resources in the mining and manufacturing of them for hardrock lithium.

Lithium is a small component of the lithium battery. The main ingredient is Cobalt.

Hopefully, if this global warming bullshit continues, we will develop a better electron storage system than Lithium ion.

So! Instead of oil sand and oil drilling we are going to strip mine lithium and cobalt?

It is disconcerting to see some little smug twink gloating about saving the environment when the alternatives have no less an impact on the environment.
The impact is just somewhere else in the world.
What is particularly irksome is this smug twink is trying to force this on the consumer through "progressive" legislation, rather than letting the free market decide.
