Default Horizontal Smoker

With the help of the Mid West crew this fall I might as well start the build thread on this smoker. Now as many know the main body was a charitable gift from Neil at the 2017 Mid West get together. One day I finally decided to get it on the table. It's been sitting with the doors cut out for a few months now. The plan is to put a big progress boost on it this year.

The fire box and chimney should be arriving via some of the guests. I appreciate this. Things I still need to acquire would be some sheet steel to cap the ends, some angle for the trays, and some expanded steel for the trays. I also need to figure out how I'm going to mount this thing. On some legs or on a trailer axle.

Enough zibber zabber, here are some pics. Any thoughts on this as we try and ramp up the build progress? Click image for larger version

Looks like you are making progress. Remember to put flat stock on the doors to cover the kerf from cutting them out

Material for the majority of the smoker less it's feet. Wasn't too shocked by the pricing either.

Not if I were doing it. Thank goodness I got the Brain trust coming to town to tell me how I'm doing it wrong.

That's one of the things I do best!

(BTW, go cut those nasty looking hinges off, we can do better than that!) Lol

Hey do you have the burn table up and running, and if so, any chance you have a piece of 3/16 lying around? (If not I can grab a small piece).

I got a peice for the smoker, not an extra. And I plan on running it that weekend.

Ok, I may have a different file and the supplies to build a handy little gadget for each of the attendees, depending on how many show up.
