Which Harbor Freight Floor Jack?

Dayton MFG was around before HF was! and is well built-in most of their products. Chinese possibly! but if so the company paid for their quality control where most others aren't willing to... and most Hydraulic repair places in SAtx won't touch an HF jack for repair but have been repairing Dayton jacks for many years... and are lots of differences between the two most common reason one would say they are close to the same is HF products are being copied over to their products and old patterns they have bought outright but yet produced by a different outfit.

I'm kinda concerned for you, though not sure what can be done about it.

Both of those jacks were on sale this weekend. I'd take your receipt and a copy of the advert and see if the manager will make it right.

If it makes you feel better, I'm concerned about you too, although I'm sure we'll figure it out...

These are the "low-profile" that I was looking at and bought. Of course, no deals on those... I was excited when I first saw the ad, then went in to look at them in person. My store has them displayed up on a rack about chest level with stock underneath. When compared up close like that, the lift pad height is like comparing a brick to a cinder block. May be OK for the pickup truck crowd but won't fit under the sedans I work on.

Years ago my Dad's ol' reliable Walker jack ran outta oomph. I even posted about it somewhere around here with hopes that someone could walk me through a rehab on it. Things didn't go as expected and as the case usually is, I needed something to get the job at hand done in the meantime. Sears still had "stuff" and I picked up one of their smaller low-profile jacks to get under the little cars. It works, barely.

During another sale a bit later I picked up one of the HF ones though not low profile. I'm not certain what brand or style it is now--likely it's some old discontinued thing with totally different badging. Seems they like to change that stuff up when sales go stale. I've never trusted it to hold it's actual weight rating. You really have to grunt to get it to lift up the trucks that I need it for. The boy has plans to procure something more beefy when it becomes available through NAPA.

My point was, so is the company Dayton and the name on the jack Daytona .
Just as the towns in Fla and Ohio . One is Daytona and the other Dayton .
Maybe a vision problem???

No. I will venture a guess that the city and/or brand named Dayton has nothing to do with production of Daytona or Pittsburgh jacks... I think they used "Daytona" to imply more car-orientation than Pittsburgh (aside from the steel). Such as the super speedway, motorcycle events and the beach they used to race on. You can still drive on it (s l o w l y) and park for a couple stretches.
