yeah, one could use them for some form of sheet metal bending maybe even weld a small duckbill flange on them or die them up for a certain bend or shape

The action of this one is a bit difficult to explain.
It looks like a screw driver for slotted screws but for a special application. Both ends are the same. They each have two positions, free to slide and locked against spring pressure. Shown are the two positions on each end.

This one sounds and acts like a hydraulic device. When I turn the protruding square shaft it is spring loaded in one direction and returns slowly when let go, makings a swishing sound as if liquid passing through an orifice.
I presume this is a door closer but would like someone to confirm.
