Thanks for the suggestion.. I'm going with one of the cheap China diesel heaters.. 8K unit.. 4 port out put..
It will heat up that cab like it's Florida.. ![]() I can use the built in tank or feed it from the main tank.. For the cost and ease of installing it, certainly hard to beat.. I can set the thermostat and just leave it.. With a unit that uses the radiator water the block heater would have to be left on all the time.. Something like this.. https://www.amazon.com/Diesel-Heater...jaz10cnVl&th=1

I agree the only thing worse than plowing on a grader at -20 F and no heat is plowing on a tractor without even a winterfront .

+1. I used to plow our 1/2 mile driveway, and the landlords place with a Harry Furgeson TO20 tractor, no cab, but at least the 3 point hitch snowblower was one that you drove forward with. Bad part of that was you tended to pack the snow down before blowing it. When I turned 17, I think I bought my first plow truck from a friends dad. A 1975 dodge power wagon. It was a great upgrade. My shop has zero heat,if its cold i watch youtube! Of course we wear shorts all year,so cold is 30 degrees to us. One of my customers tried a heater like you posted,i think it was too noisy or something (for a house on wheels),maybe not so much on a machine. |

so it's been awhile since I have posted on this.
I've been working on it when time allows.. Really tough that way.. I do best dedicating the time and staying on it. I get distracted to easily and hate being interrupted in a project. So initially I spent a bunch of time and made new console wiring harnesses, a mid section harness and a rear light harness.. Interestingly the console is hot all the time with 12V going to all the gauges and switches.. I have never seen such a thing.. Was very confusing. I also installed LED combo lights for the rear lights.. White and red.. Currently only have the white connected. I also replaced all the glow plugs with ford 7.3L ones and just rethreaded them 3/8X24.. they work a treat.

I installed red console lights so the dash is a nice red color.
I also changed the transmission fluid and it was spotless inside. I went with the Hytran fluid as recommended. I also made all new transmission linkages.. The ones in there were worn and the split nylon bushings were missing.. I went with Igus bearings as replacements for the nylon ones and went with Heim joints I made all the linkages the same length as what was there and it turns out at some point the rod connected to the shifter was made longer.. I think it had to do with the wear in the pivot at the transmission. I also cleaned up the messed up shifter in the console and put back the metal someone removed. I also stamped it with H, L, N, R. Low is a little bit hard to find I think I need to make the connection link a little bit shorter.. When everything was measured the original U link was about 1" longer so this is why I think the rod connected to the trans shifter was lengthened.

Today was the first day of using it to do work.
The temp gauge works, the converter pressure gauge works.. the oil pressure gauge works.. When I was wiring the console there were no + or - signs on the gauges so just did a best guess.. The amp meter reads backwards. and the converter temp gauge does not work at all.. I had to match the temp sensor to the gauge so it might not be the right one. The fuel gauge goes to full when powered on. I'm guessing the fuel sending unit is not the right one. I can not find an original so bought an after market one which is junk.
