I ordered a Manual.. The filter is already remotely located.. It's under the step.. I was asking more about experiences with certain brands and if you guys have a preference. I like housings with filters vs cannister.. I can then see if there is stuff it it vs cutting the can apart.

Great progress yesterday..
Drained the transmission and pulled the sump screen and the inside is completely clean other than a little oil sludge on the bottom. Few little fuzzy on the magnet I ran through.. The oil filter housing turns out with galvanic corrosion and smutz that kept it from turning.. I welded on an 1 1/8" nut to the bottom and after applying a little heat to the alum to expand it some, it came apart just fine.. Absolutely clean inside the canister as well. I cleaned the threads on both and put it all back together.. Used some vaseline on the threads putting it on and off a few times and then wiped the vaseline off.. Wire brushed it by hand.. Put a little more vaseline on and put it all back together.. Looks like there was a flat o-ring that went on the very top of the holder but is missing.

Those threaded canisters are a bitch. I'd leave the nut on it.
It looks like you got a good trans, nice and clean inside.

I looked for some heavy wall square tubing with 1" id but could not locate any in the stash.. So the nut was the next best thing.. Had 1.5" and 1.125 castle nut.. Works really well.. Thanks drove it today for the first time.. These gauges work: oil pressure, Amps, Temp.. The other ones do nothing. I'd like to get gauges working.

pulled off the front grill few days back..
Badly bent and the perforated screen was in front of the main unit. So straightened both out and fixed the heavy grill.. Then added a little bling. I also pulled off the valve cover to check out the lash..

Tuesday I adjusted the valves..
I could not believe the head is flat on top or nearly so and the valve cover is flat with no grooves or channels to hole a gasket.. The gasket is completely flat too.. the 1978 Kabota uses a straight sided oring gasket.. A little weird.. I ended up using Ultrablack to hold it in place and seal it up. I adjusted the valves as per the manual.. I read 2 different specs.. 0.27 and 0.30.. Most of the valves were in the 0.60 range.. That was encouraging.. As no major valve reseccion of the valve nor burnt valves.. Of course burnt valves are very hard to tell other wise..

so was able to get the console out..
I ordered all the wiring supplies and wire as well as a new Delphi 56 crimper.. So looks like I will be having some wiring time in my future. New gauges for many of the slots as well as E brake light and new headlight switch and shifter starting cutout.

got the rear window working as well..
Needed all new rollers as the original ones were flat sided.. Still need to make a lock for the up/down position.. Was hoping to use a gas strut to easy lifting it.. Hoping someone might have some insight in there use.
