Default Anvil

Anyone here know the maker of this anvil and any recommendations? It is at an auction tomorrow that I am going to.

Looks like an armstrong brand to me. I don't know much about them, and would need a different picture to guess the size/weight. I believe they are all wrought iron with a tool steel face (the pic would indicate that too).
Its probably a good anvil if the top is in decent shape and it still has good rebound/ring.
It looks like its had a hard life but I have seen alot worse. Hopefully the other edge is in better shape so you would still have a decent surface for sharp bends or forging a shoulder. Definitely has potential, assuming there isn't other damage not shown in the picture. I wouldn't pay top dollar though with the top in that condition.
Hopefully the anvil experts will chime in here soon, I don't really know histories and brands and all that stuff.

It's an Arm & Hammer anvil.... Has a wrought iron body with a steel top plate/face. http://www.anvilfire.com/anvils/donated_008.php

Looks to be in fair condition and if no collectors are there you might get it for a good price. Seems almost any anvil is bringing $1 a pound up to $4 a pound...or more lately...

They are supposed to be good anvils and you should find info online about them.. American made instead of English made

If you get it Chris I found a site that details a repair (w/pics) to such damage you might like to read..

Really should post at least one picture to keep a thread from becoming meaningless when the link is likely to go away.

hmmm, the second .jpg leads me to think it's not very big.

I think most are about 80-100 pounds.... That 111 might be the weight. I'm not knowledgable enough on them to be sure.

Nope, it we ever do establish another forum it will be a forum for Suggesting New Forums.
We'd need to get rid of an old one first.

Your right as usual. I was sort of taken up by the moment and forgot about the site. Anvils seem to do that to me. Thanks for covering for me.
