I do well seeing examples and then modifying them to my cause.. But I have never seen a setup that will go the full length.. I need about 48" of window movement from bottom lock to top lock.. Question becomes how to pick them out, what is the best mounting to get the full length.. Any help would be appreciated.

A cable with several sheaves to get more travel for a shorter strut?
Longest strut I have found is 21"

Jenn, you are overthinking this (Don't go Kraut on engineering ) you don't need 17 moving parts. I found a site once with the actual math for this haven't been able to find it again yet. My advise is buy a set of long heavy ones and tack weld the mounts at a split between 1/2 and 1/3 the length of the cab window and adjust to suit till they work right. I built a trailer cover for a friend that is a painter. It's about 6-7 ft long and opens from the end he loves it. He can open it with one hand. I ended up using 3 struts to get it done. Sorry that link went straight to Amazone No Bueno

oI can never be accused of not overthinking and building things way too stout. This big framed windows can be heavy.. Moves a whole lot easier with the good rollers.. But getting it off it's low position and up is a tough one until it gets at the about 50% of the top flat rail.. So what is the best way to get it there?

H'm you might have to give it a shove with your arm. I see struts that are rated for 200Lbs and are 24" long. This is a Redneck engineering project you can get this done easy peasy. You have sorted out waaaay more complicated shit than this.

Those struts can lift the whole rear door of a minivan and I'd say it is heavier than a window.

Assuming it's an up and over window like you'd have on the front of a track machine cab?
Call into someone local selling excavators and bring the measuring tape. See how it's done on a modern machine, the principle hasn't changed much |

Do you pull out the top and it opens above your head while you are sitting in the seat? If so it would operate like a single panel garage door? Like this https://youtu.be/_2ZzVGrJy90 Here is a calculator I found if this will help. https://www.weforma.com/gas_spring_c...ion/editor.php Scott |

At the very least looking in the junk yards will give you an idea for mounting. |
