Maybe this will help.
the key is to understand that the auxiliary contact from a relay (green box on the right) interlocks the coil-power after you press Start.

Default Help with a Trajan Bandsaw

Here is some pictures of my saw with the cleaning brush. Not the best pics, but your saw looks different.

But maybe it will give you some idea about your brush.

You can also see a modification I made to my saw vice back. I added a bigger plate to have the support out closer to the blade. Makes it easier to cut small pieces, by putting another longer piece on other side pinching the piece to be cut, with another piece same width as the cutting piece as a space holder opposite of the blade.

Confused yet? the pic I added is what I used to do before I cut the back plate and bolted it to the saw vice back stop.

That "toothbrush" :-) looks just like the one on the saw at the high school I I had been using for many years. Just a wire wheel from a bench grinder. Some Japanese name (I've been gone for two years and my memory is getting shorter every year) :-) But that saw was sure handy. Wish I had access to one often.
...lew... Found a pix but doesn't show the brush or the name. :-)

Hello Randy,

If you would please post a wider shot of the attached picture. See if you can turn the wire numbers to show in the picture. If the wires do not have numbers on then it is ok. You can use the VOM you have to find the numbers and mark any of them that do not have numbers.

Do you have 2 starters or 1 in the box?

We need to find where all the wires that are loose in the top go from there.

Scott

Wow, I don't know why that picture got so small.

I marked up the drawing a little.

Some info to get us started

That photo is of a contactor, & overload relay, when combined they become a starter, at least they did not use a off breed starter, Telemechaniqe is a decent IEC starter, I prefer NEMA controls because they are more rugged the IEC.

That is funny, I also own a saw identical to that one
The brush on the Trajan is different. Both are round brushes that are supposed to engage the teeth of the blade and rotate. Mine is set on a round L shaped rod on a spring. It appears to fit on the motor side blade guide. The problem is that when the saw is in the down position, there is no room for the brush. It crushes the brush into the blade and side wall of the saw to the point that the saw would cut into the brush??
The brush would work OK if the saw remained in the up position.
Thanks anyway

Here are some additional pictures.

The first picture is the strip terminals next to the starter. The numbers on each side match. Top to bottom 7, 4, 3, 2,1.

The second picture is a mystery to me. What is it?

The third is my diagram of the control box wiring. I installed the new switches and wired them per this diagram

Ok, now for the homeless wires

Coming from the coolant pump are W1, U2, and V2
The V1 and U2 look like they go to the Green/orange/gray box due to the small pin connectors. The V2 is a fork type

Coming from the saw motor are U1, V1, and W1; all with fork connectors

Coming from the power cord are L1, L2, and L2 with fork connectors.

All of the greens are connected to the ground.

All of the numbered wires are connected to the strip terminals with corresponding numbered wires

I believe it to be a relay that plugs in. The orange block can be removed from the gray part after you flip the gray colored lever over to release it.

There should be some information on top of the orange part with a picture of how it operates and volts and amp ratings. I have a feeling this is the relay for the coolant pump. The flip switch is using 24 volts and that turns on the relay that runs the coolant pump.

Scott

Here is a good video on basic 3 wire start stop control, https://youtu.be/6ujtUToPiZs
