Default International Harvester 3800 industrial backhoe

After about a year of looking and missing a Lull and with backhoe attachments demanding very good money (drove 200miles round trip and the thing was huge).

I ended up finding this machine.. I always like the looks of these.

All comments and thoughts welcomed..

Parts for them are hard to come by.. It runs and drives the FEL works up and down..

It needs TLC for sure and a set of new tires.

3000.00 is the going price.

The backhoe is off and was told the pivot cylinder trunnion was rebuilt.

Looks like a robust machine. Big boys toys for sure!

As long as the wind stays in the tires, keep using them. The tires will cost as much, if not more, as the machine. Does the swing on the hoe use two cylinders or is it built into the pivot? If it is not straight line cylinders, it is a weak design and parts are made of "Unobtainium".

Looking at pics online it seems to use rams not a slew motor so should be grand. Looks a very useful machine, what does it weigh with the backhoe on?

I looked at buying one many years ago, it was re-welded many places.

When I see that machine and the similar 4x4 Dynahoe, I am concerned that
the backhoe can't move the machine, as it may be too heavy.

There is only one weld fix I can see.. It's one of the tilt arms.. Easy fixes..

looks like a few pins are missing.. No biggy there.. I can make a few out of 4140..

Hello, hello.. I'd hate to get stuck in the grease here..

Super slick moly grease if you know what I mean..

Sadly the swing is with the inner rack being pressurized from either side (built into the pivot).

In the future if it's a problem and can't find the parts I'll convert it.. (aka where there is a will there is a way)

The guy supposedly rebuilt them not long ago.. He found the correct parts and put them in.

No one in the tractor circles I know of has told me to run for the hills in the opposite direction..
